This is a joint work with Philipp O. Tsvetkov, St\u00e9phane Ayache, Anton A. Bougaev, Soazig Malesinski,\u00a0 Hamed Benazha, Svetlana Gorokhova, Christophe Buffat, Caroline Dehais, Marc Sanson, Franck Bielle10, Dominique Figarella Branger, Olivier Chinot, Emeline Tabouret, and Fran\u00e7ois Devred<\/li>\n<li>Our paper \u00ab\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2009.13101\">Distillation of Weighted Automata from Recurrent Neural Networks using a Spectral Approach<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb has been accepted for publication at the Machine Learning journal. This is a joint work with St\u00e9phane Ayache.<\/li>\n<li>We just release a <a href=\"http:\/\/pageperso.lif.univ-mrs.fr\/~remi.eyraud\/RNN2WA-simple.tar.gz\">python demo code<\/a> of our algorithm to extract a weighted automaton from a RNN!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>In Short<\/h2>\n<p>I am a \u00ab\u00a0ma\u00eetre de conf\u00e9rences\u00a0\u00bb (that corresponds to an associate\/junior professor tenure position) at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iut.univ-st-etienne.fr\/en\/index.html\">IUT of Saint-Etienne<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-st-etienne.fr\/en\/index.html\">University Jean Monnet <\/a>since December 2020. I held a similar position at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-amu.fr\/en\">Aix-Marseille University<\/a> between 2007 and 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.rhul.ac.uk\/home\/alexc\/cfg.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-50 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/pageperso.lis-lab.fr\/~remi.eyraud\/WP\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/photo_remi-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a>I am a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laboratoirehubertcurien.univ-st-etienne.fr\/en\/index.html\">Hubert Curien Laboratory<\/a> and part of its <a href=\"https:\/\/laboratoirehubertcurien.univ-st-etienne.fr\/en\/teams\/data-intelligence.html\">Data Intelligence team<\/a>. Formerly, I was a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lis-lab.fr\/\">Laboratoire d&rsquo;Informatique et Syst\u00e8mes<\/a> where I work within the team <a href=\"http:\/\/qarma.lis-lab.fr\/\">QARMA\u00a0<\/a>(Marseilles Machine Learning Team).<\/p>\n<p>I did my PhD on the learning of context-free languages, from positive or positive and negative non-structured sequences (strings). This work is known as the starting point of what is now called Distributional Learning (Alexander Clark has a nice and short presentation of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.rhul.ac.uk\/home\/alexc\/cfg.html\">main ideas<\/a>). When I arrived in Marseilles in 2007, I continued this line of work (moving to graph grammars and to string-to-string function learning, for instance), but my interest grew also into more common machine learning approaches. The proximity of a bunch of brilliant and friendly researchers interested in <strong>statistical machine learning<\/strong>, <strong>natural languages processing<\/strong>, or <strong>multi-media indexing and retrieval<\/strong>, created an exiting environment.<\/p>\n<p>My latest work deals with the interpretability and explainibility of deep learning black-boxes, in particular of Recurrent Neural Networks.<\/p>\n<p>One can find more detail in my <a href=\"https:\/\/pageperso.lis-lab.fr\/~remi.eyraud\/Remi_Eyraud.pdf\">personal r\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/a> [Last update: Sep 2018].<\/p>\n<h4>Oldies<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Our paper title \u00ab\u00a0Learning with Partially Ordered Representations\u00a0\u00bb was presented at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.toronto.edu\/mol2019\/\">MOL 2019<\/a>. This is a joint work with Jane Chandlee, Jeffrey Heinz, Adam Jardine, Jonathan Rawski.<\/li>\n<li>I defended my Habilitation \u00e0 diriger des Recherches (HRD) on July 16th 2019.<\/li>\n<li>On August 2nd 2019, I gave a talk at the workshop <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/delfol-workshop-acl19\/\">Deep Learning and Formal Languages: Building Bridges<\/a> hold during <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acl2019.org\/\">ACL 2019<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I was involved in the new Master program <a href=\"https:\/\/iaaa.lis-lab.fr\/\">Master Informatique, parcours Intelligence Artificielle &amp; Apprentissage Automatique (IAAA)<\/a>\u00a0(Artificial Intelligence &amp; Machine Learning) that opens in September 2018.<\/li>\n<li>I was the chair of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/grammarlearning.org\/\">International Conference on Grammatical Inference<\/a>\u00a0steering committee, 2014-2018.<\/li>\n<li>With my colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/pageperso.lis-lab.fr\/~cecile.capponi\/\">C\u00e9cile Capponi<\/a>, we gave a week long professional formation at Leroy Merlin headquarter,\u00a0 on \u201cIntroduction to Machine Learning: from bases to deep learning\u201d<\/li>\n<li>I recently participated to the creation of a toolbox for the spectral learning of weighted automata (scikit-splearn): everything is described\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/perso.univ-st-etienne.fr\/er101405\/scikit-splearn\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I\u00a0 co-organized with Tobias Kappe, Guillaume Rabusseau, and Matteo Sammartino the third edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/learnaut2018.wordpress.com\/\">LearnAut<\/a> workshop, at<a href=\"https:\/\/lics.siglog.org\/lics19\/\"> LICS 2019<\/a>. It was on learning, logic, automaton, and other related topics.<\/li>\n<li>I was part of the organisation of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/treize.lis-lab.fr\/\">Treize Minutes Marseille<\/a> between 2014 and 2018. The videos of previous editions are available on the website.<\/li>\n<li>I was a member of the program committee of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/icgi2018.pwr.edu.pl\/\">International Conference in Grammatical Inference (ICGI 2018)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I organized with Jeffrey Heinz, Guillaume Rabusseau, and Matteo Sammartino the second edition of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learnaut2018.wordpress.com\/\">LearnAut<\/a>, workshop at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.floc2018.org\/\">FLoC 2018<\/a>. It is on learning, logic, automaton, and other related topics.<\/li>\n<li>I participated to the organisation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/conf-mpci-2018.lis-lab.fr\/\">Quatri\u00e8me cycle de conf\u00e9rences MPCI<\/a>\u00a0on \u00ab\u00a0L&rsquo;informatique au coeur des sciences\u00a0\u00bb (Computer Science in the Core of Sciences). It was in Marseille on 22-24 May 2018<\/li>\n<li>I organized with Borja Balle and Leonor Becerra the first edition of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learnaut.wordpress.com\/\">LearnAut<\/a>\u00a0workshop at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lics.rwth-aachen.de\/lics17\/\">LICS 2017<\/a>\u00a0(it was in Reykjavik, Iceland, on June 19th 2017)<\/li>\n<li>I co-organized the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/spice.lis-lab.fr\/\">Sequence Prediction Challenge (SPiCe)<\/a> a machine learning competition about sequential prediction. For the competition I developed a spectral learning toolbox with Fran\u00e7ois Denis, Denis Arrivault, and Dominique Benielli called <a href=\"http:\/\/pageperso.lif.univ-mrs.fr\/~remi.eyraud\/scikit-splearn\/\">Sp2Learn<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I was a member of the program committee of the francophone conference in Machine Learning\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cap16.lif.univ-mrs.fr\/\">CAp 2016<\/a>\u00a0and in charge of part of its organisation.
